Cold Waves (CWs) are generally experienced over the core CW zone (CCZ) during the period of November to March with peak during the December to February (DJF) season. CCZ is nearly same geographical region as core HW wave zone (CHZ) but includes Jammu and Kashmir subdivision and excludes coastal Andhra Pradesh. During the DJF season, significant decreasing trends were observed at many stations from CCZ region. The spatial coverage and frequency of CW/SCW days showed noticeable decrease (increase) from average during the warm (cold) phases of ENSO. A decrease in the total number of CW/SCW days over CCZ was also observed during the recent 3 decades (1991-2000, 2001-2010 and 2011-2020) compared to that during the previous two decades
