The Global warming continued due to record levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The average global temperatures during the last 7 years (2015-2021) were all 1°C above pre-industrial (1850-1900) levels with the 2021 recording global temperature of about 1.11°C above the pre-industrial level. 2021 was also one of the 7 warmest years in record. Each of the last four calendar decades has been successively warmer than any decade that preceded it since 1850. Global surface temperature in the first two decades of the 21st century (2001-2020) was 0.99°C and that during the recent decade 2011– 2020 was 1.09°C above the pre-industrial level.
